Soon, my wife and I will embark on a fortnight journey to the old world in celebration of our 10th wedding anniversary.
Our seemingly rhapsodic itinerary has us anticipating sojourns in Stockholm, Bilbao, Florence, and Paris. By turns,
we will both revel in relics of the old world's past and marvel at the daringly new the old world has to offer. From
the timeless elegance of
Brunelleschi's
symmetric
Dome
to the organic dynamism of
Gehry's
exultant
Guggenheim,
reflections on what has been, what is, and what has yet to be will echo our thoughts as we consider the flow of time in our own lives.
From our origins as a young couple in the early 1990s to the proud parents of a fine (though rampant) two-year-old, we are often overwhelmed by a feeling of gratitude at the
fortune we have met in our lives and in one another. This blog begins as a record of our expedition, a diary of word and light to herald a new adventure in the
ongoing saga that began 16 years ago. I hope you enjoy the journey at least as much as we hope to enjoy it...
Until our vacation commences, this page will contain information regarding where we are going, points of interest, photography equipment, etc.
During the vacation, I will update the site minimally as I would rather sit in front of Notre Dame (as an example) than my computer. Later (perhaps much later),
I will attempt to provide a nice overview of our trip.Note: many of the photographs currently herein were not taken by us and we make no claim to them. After our trip we will replace them with versions of our own (where possible), taking care to annotate which are ours.
